Whinhill WPS to Dougliehill High DSR

Electrical Services were requested to carry out installation of fibre-optic cabling requirements to link an existing water pumping station to an existing service reservoir pumping station, thus allowing the de-commission from service of two further pumping stations located between both sites.

This project required the installation of 10,000 metres of SWA OS2 grade fibre-optic cable fully within ground ducted systems inclusive of full termination via multiple IP68 fibre-optic junction boxes. These works were carried out through very demanding terrain over various sections of farm-land, main carriageways & housing estate street networks.

This project required working in very close partnership with all the relevant stakeholders due to multiple road traffic controls required. R&A appointed a specialist cabling installer to assist in minimising required road closures through-out the project. We also appointed a specialist fibre-optic engineer to assist in the final testing & certification of these works, due to the increased cable lengths & multiple number cable-joints required through-out the installation.

This project proved to be a major success, achieved through a basis of teamwork & a determination to hand-over an operational system to our client, which would not have been achievable with-out these qualities.
